Mid-July Backyard update

Lets get this right out of the way. Yard work sucks. It has never been any fun. I’ve heard of people that enjoy yardwork, but have they ever done it? Because… It’s ruff.

We are currently in July. T-minus 47 days to September 3rd… 47 DAYS! Kiely has always joked about pushing back the wedding. It’s amazing how fast time can travel, and how much faster it can be wasted. I believe we are on progress to be done by wedding day so that is exciting. I may end up being a week behind my initial plans to have the entire build out by end of July, but the month is not over yet!

Green Lawn

Please go Green… Please go Green. Please go Green. I don’t understand how some the lawns go green and others don’t, but between the amount of water I’m putting on it and the ‘Sunday Lawn Care’ plan… I’m still hoping it greens up.

According to the “The Sprinkler Guru”, AKA homie, the largest issue seems to be the large part of the lawn that doesn’t get much or any shade throughout the day. The lawn seems to be struggling to grow and thrive due to the heat. I do have a Hydration and Heat treatment plan from Sunday that I plan to put down this week. So hopefully that will help.

As long as I don’t need to buy a hundred umbrellas and disperse them across the yard I’ll probably stay sain. The yard looks rough around the edges, but should grow in and even out a little bit. All of the patch work has been done or at least the patches I was planning to do have been done. Just need to give the lawn some time and space to recover.

I will be making more videos when I get around to doing it.

Bus Pad

Take a look at the bus on the BUS PAD!

It looks great, but there are several larger problems when it comes to terms of the Bus Pad as a larger Project. Starting off with the fact that It’s difficult to pull the bus in and out. While the bus does fit, the initial opening that the bus needs to squeeze through is pretty short clearance. While the Math worked out, it had always been done with the assumption we would be able to pull the bus straight in.

Due to the length of the bus, and it’s clearance level, I didn’t feel like the bus could make it over the curb, and so I didn’t risk it. I drove the bus across the yard. While we did take our time, and did things slowly it didn’t make the process any easier… I don’t know what it does to a lawn, driving a bus, back and forth over it to try and achieve the best angles, it probably not the best thing for it. But in terms of the Wedding, The front yard will hopefully play a very little part.

We’ll probably need to craft some-sort of ramp to get the bus over the curb, but once done it should solve all of the problems mentioned above. And that’s only one of the 2 major problems. The other being my flimsy conversion from Fence -> Gate. While there might have been a way to do this, I probably should have done some research on the matter.

I currently have my fence re-strapped together using some ratchet straps. It’s not an elegant solution, but it closes and keeps the dogs inside. But it’s safe to say, that it will probably stay in it’s current state, until post wedding.

Gazebo

From the Get Go a Gazebo has been a dream of Kiely’s. So when we had discussed doing a backyard wedding doing a Gazebo had to be a must. We’ve picked out the spot in the corner of our yard, and have started the tear out.

Gazebo Tear Out

You’ll notice it’s still looking quite rough, but you’ll notice all the cables running through it. A total of 4 lines all running through the space… in all headed in their own direction.

I don’t know for sure what all of them are, I do know the 2 edge cables are Internet… I learned that out after a rough experience with breaking 2 cables in the same night, and having to deal with some very mean Xfinity reps. So Sorry to the portion of Provo I knocked out internet for.

So here is a friendly reminder to call 811 before you dig I didn’t realize that was something you actually needed to do, so I had to pay a big fine. Make wiser choices than me.

So due to some frustration and drama, I decided to take a break from working on the Gazebo. Plus it made sense to have a place to park the bus.

As far as the rest of the Gazebo Project goes we are planning to get a Gazebo kit from Home depot, so fingers crossed we don’t end up with some IKEA set of instructions.

Backyard Lighting

While not done yet, I do feel like lighting will the most impactful in terms of the Wedding. Having good lighting will kept everything lit up, allowing us to go into the evening, as well as hopefully giving our Photographer and Videogrophers enough lighting to take quality pictures still.

Thats a Wrap

While we still have work to do we are exciting about the wedding. Things are coming along and starting to come together. Thanks for everyone that has RSVP’d we can’t wait to share our special day with you all.
